Wotofo Flow Subtank Review

Wotofo Flow... Pretty cool name for a tank isn't it? I thought so when I first saw this tank on Instagram. The Flow is the latest sub-ohm tank from Wotofo, who are mostly known for their RDA's and RTA's. I love several of Wotofo's RTA's, but I wasn't too impressed with the Serpent subtank, the first subtank Wotofo produced. So when I got the chance to try the Flow, I wasn't expecting too much. Thankfully the Flow Tank left a much better impression on me.

Wotofo Flow: Design & Function

The Wotofo Flow is a 24mm tank and has a 4ml capacity. To make the tank TPD compliant for our friends across the pond, Wotofo included a "capacity reducer".  It's a little rubber piece that you stick into the tank that takes up space inside the tank and reduces the capacity to 2ml.

The Flow tank has a wide-bore Delrin drip tip that's standard 510 sized, making it easy to replace with your own tip if you prefer.

To fill the Wotofo Flow, you just grasp the top cap and turn. Wotofo put little indentions around the top cap to make it really easy to open and it also gives it a nice design aesthetic.

Included with the Flow tank is two 0.25 coils, rated at 35-60w. The first time I saw these coil heads I was kind of worried about how tiny the wicking holes were. Whereas most sub-ohm tanks today have large wicking holes or slots around the coil to accommodate higher VG eliquids, the Flow tank has four vertical rows of three small 1.4 mm wick holes spread around the tank.

Like I said in the intro, I really wasn't expecting much and after seeing the coils wick holes I was worried that I wouldn't have any eliquid I could use with it. I almost exclusively use 80vg and higher now, but I dug around in my vape stash and found some 70vg liquid to do my initial tests with.  I made sure to prime the coil good and took it for a spin with no problems with dry hits even chain vaping for short periods of time.  It did take about half a tank to break the coil in and get the flavor I was looking for.

Next I switched coils and tried the Flow tank using 80vg eliquid, again making sure that I primed the coil and let it set a few minutes before using. This time it took about a full tank for the coils to break in and while I didn't get a full-blown dry hit, there were times where I could tell that the coil was struggling to keep up and the flavor was tasting a little toasty.  Wattage wise, for me, I got the best flavor using the max recommended wattage of 60w.

Kudos to Wotofo for making the Flow tank compatible with the Smok TFV8 Baby Beast coils. There are a ton of coil options available in that line of coils and this makes the Flow Tank a lot more appealing and versatile to me personally because I like the Baby Beast line of coils better than Flow tank coils. Yet I like the Flow tanks design and visual appeal more.

Final Thoughts:

The Flow tank isn't a game changing subtank but it is a nice flavor chasing tank. One thing I noticed and appreciated about the Flow tank is that it isn't a juice guzzler. I'm so used to having to constantly fill these types of tank that it was quiet noticeable that Flow wasn't going through juice like I'm accustomed to. A definite plus!

Another pro the Flow tank has going for it is its compatibility with Smoks Baby Beast coil heads giving the consumer more options and making the Flow tank more versatile. Options are always a good thing, don't ya think?

Airflow is about middle of the road, not too airy but not a tight draw either. The Flow tank is definitely a flavor chasers tank yet you still get good vapor production. I think Wotofo did a good job balancing flavor and vapor production.  Overall, I think the Wotofo Flow tank is a good tank for flavor chasers and the option to use coil heads other than Wotofo's own makes it even more appealing.
